There's No Place Like Home! (Prayer Request)

I have a few prayer requests this morning. Our weekend has been an interesting one to say the least. Friday night our 2 year old fell and knocked her teeth out of place she's doing fine now, but she's still having a hard time eating and is in a lot of pain. She'll hopefully have a dentist appointment this week to get them looked at. Saturday, when I brought her home from getting her mouth checked at the doctors I put her down for a nap and almost immediately heard a large thud, she had again fallen and this time smashed the base of her skull. After 4 hours in the emergency room, she seems fine, but now she's having trouble laying down as her head/neck is quite bruised and still a little swollen. So some little prayers for her comfort would mean a lot to us.

Immediately upon returning home from the hospital with her I had to return a call to our landlord. I found out that their daughter had recently had a premature baby, and he weighed under 2 lbs. We are asking for huge prayer for this family. I'm not sure of all the details, but they are needing to help their daughter financially because of the situation and are having to sell their future retirement home (our beloved home). The family is going through a lot and they could all use our prayers, especially the mother of that precious little baby.

Lastly, we are asking for prayers for our own family. As I just said, we are having to leave our beloved home. We are renting at a very low price compared to other homes around here but even then, we have been struggling. We are a family of 7 and growing, and it's looking like our budget might now put us in the 2 bedroom apartment area. We are desperately seeking to keep the lifestyle God has instilled in our hearts, growing our own vegetables (something necessary to support our large family on such a small budget) raising chickens, and living off the land as much as possible. We were finally getting to a place where we would have been able to slowly start paying down some of our debt, and now every last penny (including a huge portion of our grocery budget) may have to go towards rent for a place that doesn't even fit our family.
We received a miracle when we found this place, it was an answer to many months of prayers, and we are now praying fervently for another miracle. To either find a place to rent that we can afford and that we can continue to add the blessings God sees fit to provide us with, or that he would provide a financial miracle and make it possible for us to buy a home of our own. It's looks like we will need to move about the exact time that my baby is due as well, so please pray that it all falls in place, and we are situated somewhere before this baby arrives (July 31st). We are so sad about the situation that is causing us to move, and are heartbroken to have to leave the home that was an answer to prayer and that we have welcomed so many of our children home into. I know God has an amazing plan worked out for all involved, it's just hard when you can't see what that plan might be. Thank you to any of you who take the time to pray for our landlords family and our own.
Jeremiah 29:11
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Home is the goal and destination of us all. We eagerly await the newborn in the ICU to be strong enough to go home. The elderly person in the retirement home reminisces and longs for the days they had a home to call their own. All the time in between we are striving for a bigger place, a better place, moving, renovating, decorating, but remember, HOME is our goal, HOME is our destination. One day our Father will call us HOME, to the best home we've ever known, to the only home that matters. Keep your true home the ultimate goal.

John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?

  1. Hi Jessica,

I'm so sorry to read about the difficulties you are going through, as well as your landlord. I have prayed for you both and will continue to lift you up in prayer. If the Lord answered your prayer and moved you into your current home, He will continue to guide you and your family to even more blessings. His timing is perfect, and His plans for you are perfect. Thank you for sharing your heart, I look forward to reading God's answers in your life through future blog posts of yours.

    Blessings,
    Nicole at Working Kansas Homemaker

  2. Thank you so much for your prayers Nicole. God's timing IS perfect! My husband and I have been reminding ourselves of that a lot the past couple days. I'm excited to see what He has in store for us, but also very sad to be closing this chapter of our lives.
